MSM is the abbreviation for methylsulfonylmethane, which is an organic sulfur compound. The importance of the chemical element sulfur, Latin sulfur, for a smooth running of processes of metabolism is still underestimated. However, sulfur occurs in various forms in all human tissues and is therefore important for performance and health. Due to today’s widespread unhealthy diets, a sufficient supply of this important trace element cannot always be guaranteed in an adequate manner. With MSM, however, a well-tolerated dietary supplement is available, also in the form of capsules or tablets. In the MSM molecule, elemental sulfur is present in organic form, which is easy for the body to utilize; in this context, one also speaks of so-called bioavailability. MSM can therefore supply the organism with valuable, natural sulfur as a dietary supplement in the form of capsules and tablets. Analyses have shown that the total organism of a human being has a sulfur content of 0.2 percent.

So although the body consists of only a fraction of sulfur, this quantity should not be neglected under any circumstances. Because trace elements are highly effective and essential even in these small quantities. For example, the body contains about five times more sulfur than magnesium, and without magnesium many metabolic processes would simply not be possible. In the minds of many consumers, there is the idea that magnesium or iron, for example, must be supplied in order to ensure an adequate supply. On the other hand, hardly anyone cares about an adequate sulfur supply; in fact, the opinion is even spread that there is enough sulfur in our food, a fatal misconception. An additional supply of sulfur as a dietary supplement, also in the form of high-dose capsules or tablets, is therefore indicated. Unfortunately, nutritional research on sulfur is still in its infancy, but just recently it has been proven beyond doubt that sulfur is indispensable for a strong immune system and a perfectly composed body protein.

In the organism, sulfur is an indispensable building block of various amino acids, hormones and enzymes. The sulfur-containing vital amino acids taurine, methionine or cysteine are strong antioxidants. If the synthesis of these and other amino acids is no longer possible due to a latent sulfur deficiency, a general defense weakness can be the result. As a radical scavenger, the sulfur-containing amino acid gluthation is considered one of the strongest antioxidants of all. If sulfur is lacking, then gluthation is also lacking with the consequence of a further weakened immune system. Sulfur deficiency is therefore more widespread than is widely assumed, a substitution with MSM as a dietary supplement in the form of capsules or tablets is therefore indicated. MSM is considered to be well tolerated and can be taken as a dietary supplement over a longer period of time if used as directed. Long-term intake is even recommended by experts, as this can compensate for sulfur deficiencies and prevent disease symptoms that can occur as a result of a sulfur deficiency. Sulfur deficiencies can manifest themselves in joint problems, liver problems, circulatory problems, anxiety, general dejection, pale skin, dull hair, flabby connective tissue, brittle fingernails, cataracts and many other symptoms.

Due to the variety of symptoms, a sulfur deficiency is not always directly recognizable as such. Even if direct proof of a deficiency has not yet been provided, an attempt at therapy in the form of dietary supplements as tablets or capsules makes sense. Organic sulfur as MSM can also be used for allergies, disorders of the gastrointestinal tract or joint diseases. Those who suffer from allergies to food, pollen or house dust can achieve amazing results after only a short time by taking MSM as a dietary supplement in the form of capsules or tablets. Quite a few users report a significant improvement in their allergy symptoms after just a few days. It is known that the organic sulfur compound contained in MSM generally improves intestinal functions and ensures a healthier intestinal flora. In a balanced intestinal environment, pathogenic fungi and parasites do not stand a chance. MSM as a dietary supplement in the form of capsules or tablets also regulates the sensitive acid production of the gastric mucosa.

This in turn leads to improved utilization of nutrients and eliminates many digestive problems such as flatulence, bloating or heartburn. Joint capsules and synovial fluid also have an increased sulfur content. If sulfur is lacking at this point, the body can no longer or only insufficiently carry out the necessary self-repairs to the joint structures. Over the years, this can result in painful functional limitations or stiff joints. Especially in the case of diseases of the musculoskeletal system, the additional intake of organic sulfur compounds in the form of MSM as a dietary supplement in the form of capsules or tablets is therefore recommended. As early as 1995, a study was published according to which the sulfur content in cartilage damaged by osteoarthritis was less than one-third of the sulfur concentration normally found in healthy cartilage. Taking MSM as a dietary supplement in the form of capsules or tablets can therefore also be associated with a significant reduction in pain and increased mobility. When buying MSM as a dietary supplement should always pay attention to high product quality.
